Facilitation/Training

Facilitation/Training

Facilitation = Guiding ~ Collaborative exploration with group ownership. The act of collaborative exploration with clear objectives. Facilitators engage participants in creating, discovering, and applying learning insights. Facilitation is a technique used by Facilitators to help learners acquire, retain, and apply knowledge and skills. Participants are introduced to content and then asked questions.  Training = Teaching ~ One way delivery with clear objectives. A Trainer teaches and are more content focused.

Trainers help others improve their performance by teaching, instructing, or directing learning. As such, facilitation and training are tools in a Facilitator/Trainer’s toolkit. In most cases, effective and engaging presenters will spend less time presenting content through lectures; and, more time facilitating learning around content.
